Think of Al's One Stop Auto when you want to make your car, SUV or truck look its best inside and out! We are proud Americans who understand and appreciate the efforts of all of America’s first responders, law enforcement officers, and the U.S. military’s veterans and active-duty personnel.
As the owner of a car, SUV or truck, you must also think about the reliability of its inner workings. They need attention too! Your vehicle is a major financial investment, and you want it to last as long as possible. Here are five basic maintenance tips that will improve its safety, life and performance.
- Check the engine’s air filter. It prevents dirt and particles from entering the engine. A clogged air filter or loose fitting can cause a host of problems. Change all of the other filters every 12 months or after 12,000 miles, whichever comes fast.
- Measure tire pressure on a regular basis. Tires are one of the most important components of your car for safety, efficiency and comfort. Your tires will last quite a bit longer, and it’s easy to check the pressure and add air yourself.
- Inspect the oil, power steering and transmission fluids on a regular basis. Not doing so can seriously damage the engine.
- Check the battery. First examine the cables and their connection to the terminals. Clean the terminal with a battery-cleaning brush, if needed. Review the battery’s power supply by, while the engine is off, turn on the lights and seeing how bright or dim they are. Or, with the engine off, notice if the windows go up and down as quickly as they used to.
- Get your ties rotated and balanced every 6,000 to 8,000 miles to improve their balance and wear.
